Join the SAA as an active teacher member.
Take the Ever Child Can! (ECC) course, an introduction to the Suzuki Philosophy and Method.
Submit your teacher training video audition at least 10 days before your first book training course. (8 weeks is recommended to give time for resubmission if necessary)
Take Book training courses:
-ECC, Books 1, 2, and 3 must be taken in order.
-After taking ECC and Books 1-3, you can take the other books in any order.
After the Institute week and all requirements are met, your training will be officially registered with the SAA by the Suzuki Institute.

James Hutchins lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with his wonderful and gorgeous wife and his fabulous and entertaining son. He grew up in the Suzuki Method, has been a Suzuki teacher for over 25 years and is a proud Suzuki dad. James is a registered teacher trainer who has taught at workshops, institutes and classes around the world, including South Korea, Iceland, Peru, Lithuania, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Belize, Bermuda, the Bahamas and throughout the States.He also taught Suzuki pedagogy at East Carolina University in 2021-22. In 2018, James was a guest Clinician at the 67th Suzuki Method Summer School in Matsumoto, Japan. His studio has performed for former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton at the White House, at the National Zoo, the U.S. Capitol,the Maryland State Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the National Aquarium and on the Millennium Stage and with the National Symphony at The Kennedy Center. They have also played the National Anthem for the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Wizards and Nationals. James also had the honor of performing for Dr. and Mrs. Suzuki at their home in Japan.

Beth Goldstein-McKee
Cello Teacher / Teacher Trainer
Beth, brings her extensive performing and teaching experience to her work with students and teachers at institutes and workshops across the United States and in her studio. A registered Suzuki Association of the Americas Cello Teacher Trainer, she has taught at International Conferences in Japan and Peru, and served on the Board of Directors of the SAA and as Cello Coordinator for the 2016 SAA Conference. Recently moved to Western PA, Beth is delighted to be starting a new generation of cello students at Hope Academy, through Arts and Education at the Hoyt, and in her private studio. Beth maintained thriving cello studios on the west coast for over thirty years, most recently in Ashland, OR where she performed with the Rogue Valley Symphony and in Berkeley, CA where she was also on the faculty of Holy Names College’s Suzuki Program and East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. A native of NYC and graduate of Brandeis University, she trained in Suzuki pedagogy at the School for Strings, NYC.

Joan Krzywicki
Piano Teacher / Teacher Trainer
Joan Krzywicki earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, where she carried a second major in Piano Performance. She studied piano there with Abbey Simon. She also has a Master’s Degree from Youngstown State University in Ohio. Joan’s Suzuki training began in 1981. In addition she has attended workshops in the Taubman technique, the Dalcroze method, and the Kodaly method. Joan became an official Teacher Trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas in 1993. She maintains a private studio in her home and offers teacher training at Temple University in Philadelphia. Joan is also nationally certified by the Music Teachers National Association. She has been a guest clinician and teacher trainer at workshops and Institutes in the U.S., Canada, England, Sweden, and Argentina. Her students have achieved the highest honors at area Festivals, and many of them continue to study music at the college level.
Joan is a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She is also a Past President of the Philadelphia Music Teachers Association and the Greater Philadelphia Suzuki Association.
