The Pennsylvania Suzuki Institute Workshop 2020
The Pennsylvania Suzuki Institute workshop is a two-day online music camp modeled after the summer school Dr. Suzuki directed in Matsumoto, Japan. The experience is designed to be the biggest motivating and inspiring musical event in a young person’s year, and focuses on improving each child’s musical aptitude and achievement. The workshop involves two master classes, group classes, music theory classes, and sight-reading classes all to build each student’s musical knowledge and ability- all while having a lot of fun.
Suzuki Program for violin, viola, cello & piano
Each student receives 4 daily classes for a total of 8 classes.
Master Class - consists of three to four students who get individual instruction with a faculty member. Each student works on the technical and musical skills as well as the repertoire that is individually appropriate for them. While each student is getting their individual time, the other students in the class have the opportunity to observe, which is highly valuable in Dr. Suzuki’s methodology.
Group Class - Students work with a faculty member to master technical, musical and ensemble skills that are applicable to the piece they are collectively learning. Group class is an excellent opportunity for students to improve interpersonal and interpersonal interaction while working for a common goal in a fun and loving atmosphere,
Music Theory - Students will continue to develop their knowledge and application of music theory through discussions, examples, and games designed for every level of learner. Clef identification, solfege, rhythm exercises, and harmonization will be explored in ways that each student can transfer to their individual instruments and studies.
Sight-Reading Class- Students will hone their note reading skills as well as learn the “tricks of the trade” on how to sight-read like the pros!
Recital - Students will be given a chance to perform live, allowing them to share their music with others, and showing what hard work and dedication can accomplish.
Pre-Twinkle and Twinkle for violin, viola, cello & piano
